Prague: 45-Minute Historical River Cruise and Refreshments
- Duration: 45 minutes
- Optional audio guide
Vltava river cruises often sell themselves on views of the spectacular Prague Castle, and who can blame them? But is the hilltop landmark really best seen from a boat? Here are five sights that are!
As the River Vltava's only crossing until 1841, this 15th-century, gothic pedestrian bridge was crucial for connecting the castle and Old Town for much of the Prague's history.
The National Theater, home of Czech opera and performing arts has been running since 1881. Can't get tickets for a show? Compare night boat tours to see its stunning exterior illuminated instead!
Even in a city as handsome as this, the magnificence of this auditorium and art gallery is dwarfed only by Prague Castle. It's home to one of the oldest concert halls in Europe.
The "Devil's Stream" was dug to power medieval watermills still visible today. You'll also see the sights of Kampa Island, including Liechtenstein Palace.
Designed by Vlado Milunić and Frank Gehry to symbolize Czechoslavikia's transition to democracy, the Gaudí-esque Dancing House stands out amid Prague's Baroque and Gothic cityscape.
Prices for sightseeing boat tours of Prague's Vltava river begin at €8 for a basic, one-hour sightseeing package, but can cost upwards of €50 for a better quality tour complete with meals and – as is quite popular on Vltava river cruises – live music.
The banks of the Vltava look splendid lit up by night, so why not book an evening's dinner cruise? Unless you're after something fancy, prices for these (often with a buffet) are very affordable. There are also lunch cruises available if those better suit your itinerary.

I come from Indonesia and book a full day tour with Gray Line Tour. I end up with having a private tour only with the guide, Mr. Dvořák. He is really nice and explains everything clearly for us who don't know much about Europeans history. He absolutely know a lot of histories of Prague and around it, associated with the buildings, people, streets even sentiments between party instances. He even rearrange the timings with the weather forecast so I could experience Prague best, with a very good lunch. I personally recommend this full day tour for those who wants to learn a lot about the buildings and histories behind them.
Nice tour. The boat we were supposed to take was cancelled but the next dock was already prepared to accept us without any glitch. The tour was in English with appropriate comments and not too much. Weather wasn't the best, slightly rainy and mostly cloudy. But enjoyed the trip.
Alice was a very enthusiastic guide who loved sharing her knowledge. We visited places we would not have seen on our own. The trip included walking tours, a car tour, an excellent lunch a relaxing but informative boat trip. This tour was well organised.
This is a really excellent boat trip. It was intimate and the driver was extremely knowledgeable. We were worried it would be too cold, but the boat was lovely and warm. Definitely recommend!
Very good experience, relaxing, informative and beautiful boat tour. Our Captain and guide, Vojta was really helpful and explanatory, he made the tour very comfortable and funny.
