From Sorrento/Nerano: Amalfi and Positano Boat Tour

1. From Sorrento/Nerano: Amalfi and Positano Boat Tour

After pickup from your hotel, your boat tour will depart at 9:00 AM. First, you'll sail around Li Galli island, where the myth of Ulysses and the Sirens is said to have been set. Then your boat will head to the Ancient Marine Republic of Amalfi where you'll enjoy 3 - 3.5 hours of free time to explore the town. Don't miss seeing the main local attractions such as the Cathedral and the Cloister of Paradise. Enjoy some time on the pebble beach, tanning and swimming in the azure waters. You may also want to shop for local products like the world-famous Amalfi Coast lemons and limoncello.  Next, sail towards Positano, where you'll also have about 1.5 - 2 hours to yourself. Admire the picturesque Furore and the beautiful old town of Praiano. On the return trip, you'll find the Fjord of Crapolla and the enchanting Islet d'Isca that belongs to Eduardo de Filippo. Finally, arrive back at the port at about 5:15 PM to catch your shuttle back to your accommodations.

Amalfi Coast: Boat and Snorkeling Tour with a Captain

2. Amalfi Coast: Boat and Snorkeling Tour with a Captain

Board an Amalfitan Gozzo boat for a scenic ride along the Amalfi coast. Admire natural wonders, including the Natural Arch and Faraglioni Rocks. Swim and snorkel or relax on the shores of secluded beaches. Once everybody has jumped on board and had a little briefing about how you're going to spend the day, you will be ready to set off to the west towards Positano. The route will take you along Amalfi Coast’s finest beaches as well as close to natural rock arches and into sea caves, giving you the opportunity to admire the old watchtowers that dot the entire length of this coast. You will pause at beaches reachable only by sea and have time to go snorkeling or swimming in crystal-clear waters and into grottoes. Not too far from the starting point, right after leaving the center of Amalfi, you will get close to Saint Andrew's Grotto, a huge natural sea cave full of stalactites named after the patron saint of Amalfi (Andrea). Then, once passed Duoglio and Santa Croce beaches, you will stop by the "Arc of Lovers", a natural rock arch created millions of years ago by the erosion of the sea whose shape recalls two elephants in the act of kissing. Up to not too long ago young couples used to get married on the top of it. A little later you will cruise in front of the ancient fishing village of Conca dei Marini, passing near the villa of Sophia Loren and seeing the historic hotel “Il Saraceno” located on La Vite Beach. From here you will also have a stunning view of the Santa Rosa Monastery, a former convent now converted into a luxury hotel, once home of the Dominican nuns. It's right in the kitchens of this monastery that the delicious "Sfogliatella Santa Rosa" was born, a shell-shaped pastry filled with ricotta cheese-based cream and little dried fruit pieces, typical of the local culinary tradition (don't forget to taste it before leaving!). Once past the seaside of Conca dei Marini you will enter its western basin, where you will have a beautiful view of Furore and Praiano villages and the islands of Li Galli and Capri, together with the well-known Faraglioni Rocks. Further inside this basin we will find the little Runghetiello Grotto and its tiny beach, where you will anchor for a break to go swimming or snorkeling. You will reach then the famous Furore Fjord, the only natural fjord in Italy and location of the international diving competition "MarMeeting": every year in July, professional divers from around the world compete by jumping from the top of the bridge which is 28 meters high. Navigating a little farther onward to the village of Praiano you will be able to have a close look at a bigger sea cave, the Africana Grotto, where the water has a distinctive blue color thanks to the unique refraction of light. Finally you will go round Capo Sottile and continue cruising to Positano, where you will have another break for snorkeling at a beach reachable only by the sea and so not crowded at all: La Porta. The return trip to Amalfi will give you a different but equally remarkable view of both sea and land.

From Capri: Amalfi Coast Boat Tour

9. From Capri: Amalfi Coast Boat Tour

The captain will pick you up in Capri and cruise across the Bay of Naples and into the Gulf of Salerno, towards the Amalfi Coast. You will see the private villas and coves of Sorrento on one side and the island of Capri on the other side with Naples and Mt. Vesuvius behind you. The views are spectacular.  You will see:  - Nerano: A small fishing village on the Amalfi Coast and home of the "Blue Flag" which is awarded to various beaches under strict criteria, signifying and boasting high quality and cleanliness of the sea.    - Positano: The view of Positano from the sea is one of the most famous views in the world. Cruise along the coastline and pass the world-renowned 5 star San Pietro Hotel, small hidden coves and beaches where you can stop for a swim off the boat if you would like.  - Furore: Here you will pass a wonderful little turquoise fjord with a bridge where a diving competition is held every year. It is also the location where Roberto Rossellini filmed "Amore" beside Anna Magnani.  - Amalfi: The most famous town on the Amalfi Coast, a bustling village with a beautiful cathedral dedicated to St. Andrew and home to lovely hotels, shops, restaurants and a historic paper mill/ museum which produces organic paper.  One of the best parts about chartering a boat is that the captain is a local of the area.  Although he is not a tour guide, feel free to ask him about the coastline and he will be more than happy to offer some information about what you are seeing as well as insider tips regarding the best things to do. This will allow you to experience the Amalfi Coast through the eyes of a local rather than a tourist.  The service is simple and high quality so relax on the sundeck, enjoy the views, stop to swim in the various bays and enjoy local snacks and beverages that are provided on board. The captain can stop at any of the above villages so that if preferred, you can have the opportunity to visit them at your leisure. I also suggest stopping for a seaside lunch, as this is a culinary paradise of Italy, serving fresh seafood, pasta and more.

Next, take a refreshing swim in the Africana Grotto before having the option to continue on to the fantastic Emerald Grotto.

Our tour guide was AMAZING! A real local, so knowledgeable about the area and highly entertaining. She did the tour in both English and Italian, going back and forth between the two. We felt the time in Positano was a bit too long (same stuff to see/eat/do as Amalfi) at the end of the day, but otherwise the trip was fabulous. Side note: a list of the better restaurants in Amalfi would have been nice, we chose poorly and ended up eaten the worst food of our whole trip there (still decent, but not nearly as good as other places).

Wonderful tour!! Great guide and information, small group, and great stops in amalfi, positano, and other spots to swim (though beware of jellyfish!). Would highly recommend!!

Amazing your, the best way to see the Amalfi coast and to avoid all the traffic. The guide was fantastic and so knowledgeable.

this experience was one of the highlights of our trip. it was such a great day

Very good excursion well organized and excellent guide from start to finish.
