I've wanted to go for years (Irish ancestors) but with 5 kids, the ferry is really expensive ($50 for each of us!) So when the older 4 went to visit their grandparents, we took advantage and finally visited Grosse Ile. Although I find the ferry cost prohibitive for families, the service was very good. On the island, we were one of the only English speaking groups so we pretty much had a private tour. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly (especially Philippe on the trolley). It's a beautiful place and we really enjoyed learning about its history.
The guide was knowledgeable and hilarious - I would highly recommend taking this tour as it gives you a good overview of the geography of the city, and the elevated view from the top of the bus is great for getting photos.
The one-hour city tour was great. Especially on a warm summer day. Saw the key places and it gives one an idea of places where you may want to go to explore them further.
We where able to change our time due to traffic congestion. And Daniel was great tour bus driver, enjoyed his humour , you could tell he loved his job.
Excellent wine tour on a beautiful island straight out of a fairy tale, with a fun, informative tour guide (Peter) second to none.
