Full description

In the heart of Fiordland National Park, Milford Sound is known as one of New Zealand’s top scenic attractions. On this day tour from Queenstown, jump on board an air-conditioned coach and be entertained with commentary from your driver/guide.

After passing through the 1.2-kilometer-long Homer Tunnel, descend into Milford Sound. Here jump on board a boat to cruise along the fjord. Take in the famous sights, like the uniquely-shaped Mitre Peak and the glacier-scarred rock. Keep an eye out for marine life like dolphins, seals, and penguins too. The fjord is dotted with waterfalls that tumble through the valleys and crash into the sound far below, making the scenery in Milford Sound spectacular, rain or shine.

Milford Sound is fantastic! Great scenery! And the waterfall!! I give the tour operator Greats Sights 5 stars but for the booking I made through Get Your Guide, I give them 2 stars. Booking confirmed for 7.40am departure but in reality it was 6.50am. Missed the bus completely! We had to take a Taxi to Te Anau to catch up with the group. Good thing Great Sights covered the cost. It was stressful at the start but we made it. Bus ride was long to Milford but overall, nice experience.

The trip was very comfortable...they gave us food before boarding the boat. The guide Luke was super good, he was explaining to us the places where we passed (we were also lucky that he spoke Spanish and we asked him any questions we had). In general I recommend it to see the Milford sound, since the road is a bit rough to drive if you are not used to driving on the right.

This is a very long day. The road is very wi dry but the drive mr kept us entertained on the way there with interesting information along the way. There were a couple bathroom and one food stop (if you didn’t get a tour with lunch included). The bathroom on the coach was out of order (likely didn’t want to clean it) and that upset some people. No worries for us. The lunch was good but there weren’t enough Celiac meals so I shared mine and it then wasn’t enough. The tour provider sent an email saying the meals needed to be pre booked but a lot of people didn’t see it in the ticketing information (so make sure you look for it!) The cruise was excellent! The drive back was very long and a lot of back and forth movement because of the road. Glad to be back.
