Tel Aviv City Full Day Sightseeing Tour From Jerusalem

3. Tel Aviv City Full Day Sightseeing Tour From Jerusalem

With its beautiful Mediterranean coastal location, Tel Aviv is a cosmopolitan, 24-hour city where the lifestyle centers on the glorious sandy beaches as much as the green parks, busy shopping malls and multitude of designer bars and restaurants. Despite its young age, it is steeped in history. There are more than 20 museums, a thriving art scene and eclectic architecture that range from the Ottoman alleyways of Jaffa to the beautiful Bauhaus buildings of the last century. During the tour you will drive down the main streets exploring this diverse environment, and stopping off at select sites such as the Diaspora Museum. Located on the campus grounds of Tel Aviv University, and otherwise known as Bet Hatfutzot, its core exhibition explores the history of the Jewish people dating back over 4,000 years, making it an essential attraction to immerse yourself in the story of Israel. You will stop at Rabin Square, formerly known as Kings of Israel Square, and site of parades, political rallies and public demonstrations. It was here that Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated in 1995, and the square was renamed shortly after. Continue to Jaffa. A mere 15-minute drive from downtown Tel Aviv, the spirit of Old Jaffa might as well be a million miles away. The birthplace of Tel Aviv city, it is set around one of the world’s oldest ports, with evidence of settlement dating as far back as 7,500 BC. Walk through narrow cobblestone streets and alleyways, and explore an eclectic mix of shops, churches, monuments, public squares and cafés. Visit Neve Tzedek, the first neighborhood of Tel Aviv, built in 1909. Carry on to Nahalat Benyamin, a stunning pedestrian street with Bauhaus buildings. Every Tuesdays and Fridays a flea market appears, complete with street performers and stalls selling handmade jewelry, crafts and delicious Druze bread. End your tour at the colorful Sheinkin Street, known for its unique boutique shops, café life and youthful ambiance. You will be dropped back off at your hotel in Tel Aviv, Netanya or Herzliya to continue your vacation on your own.
