Full description

Discover Ravenna's beauty on a guided walking tour with Silva. Visit 4 UNESCO buildings, including the Basilica of San Vitale and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia. Stroll the city center and discover the secrets of mosaic-making. As you walk, hear about Ravenna's fascinating history from Ravenna native Silvia and learn about the stunning mosaics you see from a mosaic expert.

Go back in time to when Ravenna was the capital of the Roman Empire. Start your tour at the Basilica of San Vitale, and marvel at the perfectly preserved mosaics inside. Continue to the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, located in a unique monumental complex surrounded by a luscious garden.

Cross the city from west to east in a leisurely stroll through the pedestrian area. As you walk, learn about the architecture of contemporary buildings. See the covered market in art nouveau style, the Venetian square Piazza del Popolo, and the Dante District.

Next, admire the magnificent Neonian Baptistery and its intricate mosaics, a beautiful example of early Christian architecture. Learn more about the long tradition of mosaics at a mosaic workshop. Finish your tour at the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, where you can see archaeological remains from the barbarian domination under Theoderic, King of the Ostrogoths.
