Full description

Hunt for the aurora borealis on a guided group tour from Reykjavik. Witness the unique starry sky with the flash of light cutting across the Icelandic landscape. Curl up in warm blankets with hot chocolate and snacks.

The journey will go outside of the city limits away from as much light pollution as possible, the northern lights are harder to see from Reykjavík. The end location is not pre-determined as it will depend on the cloud coverage and activity in the evening.

The drive will be kept as short as possible and you might stop at several locations as the lights can be quite elusive. It is often a waiting game for this beautiful phenomenon, but it is always worth it.

As you search for the aurora borealis, your guide will set up their camera for photos of your group. Your tour guide will ensure everybody gets an opportunity for a photo. Round off your night with a hot drink while stargazing in good company.

Amazing tour, Norris our tour guide was so enthusiastic and full of energy! They collected us from a central bus stop 1 as this was the nearest to our hotel, we were on a mini bus with maybe 14 other people, we drove out of the city approx 45 mins and then were able to get off the bus, the lights appeared and Norris took photos of us with his professional camera, he also told us the settings to change our phones to, to get good photos ourselves!we were brought to an area where no other bus tours were! He brought hot chocolate and coffee and blankets and you were allowed get on and off the bus to keep warm! We saw a spectacular show of lights and had an amazing tour with Norris! Would highly recommend David the Guide tours! Also you get offered another night if you don’t see the lights!

Picked up at 830pm, baring in mind it didn't go dark until 10/1030pm we felt this was a little early as we only had one pick up and then had to wait for hours on the bus. Our guide told us about aurora and how it is tracked. We were expecting challenging conditions and told it may not appear or be very faint. Our guide set up a hot drinks station outside the bus in a parking area up in the dark mountain area where there was less light pollution. The bus driver left the engine running all the time we were stationary and the diesel fumes were a bit overwhelming. We got off the bus for fresh air but you can't stand outside for 4 hours in the cold! We eventually saw a very dim aurora around half midnight and our guide got photos of all the guests on her DLSR camera. I managed to get a shot on my phone camera by messing with the settings. It was a really long evening and glad we didn't do it on the same day as golden circle
