Ride from Reykjavik and journey to the south of Iceland. Stop to see the majestic Skógafoss waterfall. Walk along the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, and reach Vik I Myrdal, the southernmost tip of the country. Visit hidden waterfalls on the way back, one underneath the Volcano Eyjafjallajökull.

Pass the Hellisheiðarvirkjun geothermal power plant that supplies the capital's energy and travel through the mountain pass. Capture the ocean view and see the ice cap of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, with a chance to spot the Westman Islands.

Arrive at the stunning Skógafoss waterfall, known for it's appearance in Game of Thrones. Become speechless as it falls 60 meters and try to find the legendary hidden treasure behind it.

Visit one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world, the Reynisfjara black sand beach. View the basalt columns and hear the intriguing stories and sagas that are connected to this amazing place.

Reach the southern tip of the country, Vik I Myrdal. Find the charming fishing village, visit the local church, and view the entire settlement. Stop on the way back and see the Sólheimajökull glacier. Finish the day at the exquisite Seljalandsfoss waterfall, tucked underneath the infamous Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Take a chance to walk behind it and visit it's hidden cousin, Gljúfrabúi, before heading back to Reykjavik.

Firstly i would say this tour involves a lot of walking and getting soaked in waterfalls so get good waterproof shoes and jackets. Prepare to be climbing up rocky paths around waterfalls and tall steep stairs taking you all the way up Skogafoss waterfall. There was also a 20-25 mins glacier walk. Lunch at Vik was the last part of the tour which I believe should be before going to black sand beach as we were famished by the time we reached the black beach. Thomas , our guide was quite friendly. We were just 4 people on the tour. Overall, a well organised and good tour.

If you asked me now what’s in the south of Iceland I still wouldn’t be able to tell you the names of anything. However, I could tell you what I saw and the history of certain locations. It’s a long tour but it’s well worth to see some beautiful sights and learn interesting stuff along the way. The only reason this wasn’t perfect in my opinion was the time management. In some locations, I felt we had too much time, whereas for others it felt like not enough - especially where we stopped for lunch. It was very busy so the waiting times were longer, leaving us with not much time to eat after we got food. Still, the tour itself was super interesting for seeing stuff outside of Reykjavik. My legs are not happy though, so prepare yourself for the walk of a lifetime during the day.

Our experience was great. We had a small tour with only three people. We got to see wonderful sites, but the basalt columns in the canyon that everyone posts about are not the ones you see on this adventure. Matte was a wonderful guide. He is highly knowledgable and can talk to you about anything you see on this trip. You also stop for 1 hour in Vik to get lunch. Just bring snacks if you need them.
