Update August 9th: The flow of new lava at Litli-Hrutur has stopped, at least for the time being. The area is still smoldering and is fascinating to visit. The lava spewing from this new fissure is piling on top of itself, meaning the new crater is growing larger on an hourly basis. A new mountain is being born here.
