Full description

Chase the Northern Lights across frozen landscapes and witness this unique phenomenon. With your experienced guide, scout out the best sights and visit the Aurora Reykjavik Museum.

Begin your tour at the fantastic Aurora Reykjavik Museum. There, get an introduction to the physics behind the Northern Lights, and how to best photograph them.

Next, drive to the lava fields outside Reykjavik and visit Aurora Basecamp. This newly built Northern Lights Observatory is the perfect place to witness the lights. The observatory also hosts an indoor real-time simulation of the Northern Lights in one of its domes. After the visit to the Observatory, go on a further hunt into the darkness of rural Iceland.

The lights are a natural phenomenon and beyond human control, they are visible in Iceland from late August through April but visibility is subject to light activity and cloud coverage
There is no guarantee that you will see the northern lights

Great trip with a friendly and knowledgable driver. Weather conditions weren’t looking too favourable, but with the knowledge and perseverence from our driver, and a drive a little further north, we found the lights. Hot chocolate and doughnuts a nice touch, as well as the horses. Well worth paying the extra for a small group tour. Would highly recommend.

Great trip run by Bikay, picked us up from the City Hall at 20:15 (promised 20:00 - 20:30) Took us out to a very good dark spot (light pollution is awful around Reykjavik). Hot chocolate and doughnuts very welcome. We saw the Northern Lights! - A faint green glow in the sky, improved slightly as time went on. Photos very much flatter the appearance of the lights. Bikay had the knowledge to persist when we were ready to give up.

Firstly, Hal the driver was excellent. He swiftly managed the pick ups and we were on our way to find the northern lights in no time. WE SAW THE NORTHERN LIGHTS! It was amazing. Initially, we went to one location with no luck stayed there for around 45 minutes. Hal made the decision to take us to a different location. He’s decision was a good one and we saw the Northern Lights! We got to see them for roughly an hour before they disappeared and took some amazing pictures. Hal was very generous when he gave as hot chocolate and doughnuts, encouraging us to have 2nds and 3rds! Hal was very informative during the journey and filled the quiet moments with intriguing facts in a humorous tone! Would definitely recommend! The smaller bus was certainly a massive benefit to the experience and would definitely recommend using!
