Marvel at the different shades of pink in the lagoons of Rio Lagartos during a boat ride through the mangroves. Keep a look out for different birdlife, including cormorants, ospreys, herons and pelicans. Río Lagartos: Biosphere Reserve and Las Coloradas Pink Lakes

2. Río Lagartos: Biosphere Reserve and Las Coloradas Pink Lakes

See the beauty of Rio Lagartos, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve home to a rich diversity of landscapes and ecosystems such as mangroves, forests, lagoons, and more. Admire the pink lakes at Las Coloradas on this full-day tour too. Begin with an early pickup from accommodation in Cancun or Playa del Carmen. From there, you’ll make your way to the busy town of Valladolid for a cup of coffee and a snack. Head to Rio Lagartos after a brief pit stop, and upon arrival, skip the crowds and board a private boat to enjoy the scenery of the reserve. Cruise around the reserve with a friendly guide pointing out the numerous local flora and fauna, potentially catching glimpses of flamingos, pelicans, sea turtles, and crocodiles. Stop by the beautiful pink lakes at Las Coloradas (the color of the water depends on weather and chemical conditions) and snap a few photos. After, enjoy a stop for lunch before heading back to your accommodation.

Such an amazing day! Our guide Big G was brilliant and hilarious and our guide at the pink lagoon was fantastic and an excellent photographer. We went in Feb so the flamingos weren’t around due to the season, but the day was great overall. The crocodile sanctuary was definitely one for the bucket list and the Cenote was gorgeous. Quite a way away from cancun, so be ready for the journey.

Excursion great, but not as described by Getyourguide. The cenote is missing, but you visit a crocodile station, which they breed and release animals as adults. Arki the guide was nice and explained everything well

A very great excursion, you get so close to the animals, great guide our Roberto. I can only recommend.

Amazing tour!!! Great fun seeing las coloraadas, the boat tour seeing flamingos and crocodiles

Nice day, very nice and cheerful guide. Tasty lunch. I recommend.
