Full description
A comfortable, air-conditioned coach will pick you up in Rome. As you leave the city behind for rolling hills, your expert, English-speaking tour guide will fill you in on Tuscany’s rich culture and answer any questions you might have about the day ahead.  First is a walking tour in the hill town of Montepulciano, led by a local expert guide, taking in an ancient but still-functioning wine cellar and ruins that pre-date Rome. Next is San Biagio, a picturesque church resting below the town at the point where the Val d’Orcia fades into the Val di Chiana. In the midst of a breathtaking landscape overlooking the Tuscan hills, the classic-style church, with its travertine facade welcoming in the sunlight, is a 16th-century Renaissance masterpiece with exquisite decorations inside. Just a short drive away is the highlight of any trip to Tuscany: lunch. In the wine cellar of an authentic vineyard farmhouse, you’ll enjoy a 3-course meal with wine pairings — including the famous Brunello di Montalcino and varieties from the vineyard itself. You can buy your souvenir Tuscan wine here or wait for the final stop: the picturesque town of Pienza. Your tour leader will offer advice on the way here, but once you arrive it’s up to you how to spend your time: shopping for pecorino cheese, balsamic vinegar, wines and other local specialties, finding the perfect photo opportunity, or simply wandering the streets like a local. Then it’s back to Rome in air-conditioned comfort — fulfilled, relaxed and ready for the next day.

The tour was really great. The medieval, Tuscan towns we were taken to (Multipiano and Pienza) were really beautiful, the lunch we were provided with was delicious and our guide was fantastic. Certainly would recommend this tour to anyone wishing to take just a day to see some of Tuscany from Rome.

We had a great time on this tour! A wonderful experience throughout the whole day! Montepulciano was amazing and the farmhouse tour and lunch were awesome! Anna, our tour guide lost no time to provide us with so much information throughout the tour and was ever so helpful and attentive to all our requests and needs. Fausto, our excellent driver was very patient throughout our journey! Well done and thanks!

If you’re on the fence about this one, hesitate no more. Even in pouring rain I can honestly say I enjoyed this tour very much. Anna was very knowledgeable about the various regions we drove through and stopped in. You could also tell she really enjoys her job. Julio, aside from being an extremely handsome looking man, was also a very skilled driver, especially given the pouring rain and thunderstorm on our way back. The food and wine at lunch were really good as well.
