Full description
Meet your guide on the magnificent Piazza Navona and be taken on an extended tour of the area. Catch the best of Baroque Rome including the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Venezia while taking in the bustling Roman atmosphere en route! At Trajan's Column, a massive monument to Emperor Hadrian's victory in Dacia which boasts a myriad of tales in it's serpentine bas-relief, rest for a short while before continuing on with your visit to the Roman Forum archaeological area. Make no mistake, this is where you will learn the A to Z about the origins, rise to power and inevitable decline of the Caput Mundi, the great ancient city of Rome. A short walk away lies the Icon of Rome. At the Colosseum, tour groups are hard to avoid at any time of day. However your experienced guide will steer you away from the crowds and walk you around the circumference of the Colosseum, pointing out all the highlights and curiosities of the massive amphitheater before leading you into the arena through Gladiator Gate, the far less populated entrance with no waiting time and no stress. On the other side of Gladiator Gate, find yourself standing on the original Colosseum arena floor. From here you will have a bird's-eye view of the entire structure all around including the underground chambers which are better seen from above.

Fairly nice tour

The tour was quite interesting although we would have wanted a more in-depth view of the Roman life of that time. Our guide Marti was pleasant and had a nice sense of humor, but she focused more on the architectural aspect of the monuments, whereas we would have enjoyed more substantial information about the everyday life of that period and the background and politics behind all these monuments. The tour is quite long [more than 4 hours] and a bit tiresome [especially during the summer!] and if you happen to have visited the piazzas and fountains on your own, you could probably skip that part of the tour. Overall it was a fairly good experience.

When in Rome be guided by the best guide ever, Chiara (Clare).

Thank you to Get Your Guide our guide Chiara was everything and more than you could wish for from a guide. I went on the 4 hour guide with my 15 yr old daughter and 13 yr old son, so as you can imagine it could have gone either way, a 4 hr walk of hell or a stimulating, fun history fact packed tour that we would have happily continued with all day. I would highly recommend this tour. Thank you Chiara.

Our Guide Chiara made this tour to a five star experience.

It was fun, it was full of information and all perfectly presented by our guide Chiara. This tiny woman has so much energy and love for her city - that the Ancient Rome appeared before our eyes. We would do the tour anytime again with her to learn more about this facinating city.
