Our guide was GREAT! I have been to the Colosseum a few times now and and never realized that there was an underground tour until this time. It is so much better to do these great historical locations with a tour because you truly don't know what you are looking at. The knowledge and insight made this experience so much better.

This was a fantastic experience. The tour was well organized. Having a guide with a doctorate in archaeology really raised the bar. Guide spoke excellent English, provided lots of historical details in an interesting fashion. Kept everyone very engaged. I had doubts visiting the underground with young kids based on other reviews I had read, but highly recommend visiting. Skipping the line even with a less(er) November crowd was a big plus.

We did the joint Roman Forum/Colosseum Tour, with the additional underground portion of the Colosseum. We had a guided tour, and it was worth every penny. That was a wealth of information that we never would have gotten by simply exploring the sites by ourselves. The Roman Forum was fascinating, walking through what was essentially downtown Rome of 2000 years ago. The Colosseum is massive, and its amazing to think that it's essentially the same design as modern stadiums. They are doing a wonderful job of restoring portions of it, and I think it will be fascinating once they have the floor finished-- but get into the underground tour soon, because when they finish the main floor, that option will probably be gone.
