Full description

From its stunning beauty to its ancient history and artistic and religious significance, the Vatican is a one-stop-shop for any traveler. Whether the paintings, sculptures, religious art, architecture, or even the Pontifical Swiss Guards that have protected the Pope since 1506, little else compares to the utter majesty of the Holy See.

Join the more than five million annual visitors of the global heart of the Catholic Faith. Experience the Vatican City, the entirety of which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, fully with privileged access to the main attractions before the general public arrives.

Start discovering the beauty of the Vatican at 7:30 AM in the absence of crowds. Wander the Vatican Museums, the famous Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica surrounded by very few. Explore the museums at your own pace and leave the rest of the day free to enjoy Italy.

Follow your expert guide into the Museums to discover the world’s most extensive collection of art, including the greatest sculptures and artwork of the Renaissance period. Continue through the Candelabra Gallery, divided into six splendid rooms containing artworks found throughout the country, bringing relics of the Roman Empire into the modern-day.

Then explore the astonishing Gallery of the Tapestries, host to an extensive collection of Raffaello Sanzio’s tapestries depicting different Catholic stories and myths. From there, walk through the Gallery of Maps with your guide, the perfect place for travelers with a taste for the sciences. Check out the global maps created by Roman topographers — a glimpse into what the world was thought to look like centuries ago.

I felt a lot of time was wasted passing through security to enter the basilica early just to walk back out and walk around to the Vatican Museums. If we had gotten to the museums early we would have been at the front of the line. Time was spent waiting to get tickets, new audio sets in the museums, etc instead of getting to the museums. We also turned in our head sets prior to entering the Sistine chapel so we were unable to enter the basilica with the other groups. I’m glad we went to the basilica on our own as the line to get back in was very long when we finished at the Sistine chapel and museums.

Our tour guide was Great!, but I can’t remember his name his coworker said his name sounded like he would be better suited for the colosseum but happy he was at the Vatican instead. He made it all come to life for us with the stories he told and the pictures he showed us. Thanks to him, we appreciate him even tho we don’t remember his name.

It was easy to book tours through getyourguide. We first booked for the Colosseum, guided tour. Super nice tour. Then we booked for the Exclusive tour of Sct. St. Peter's Church and guided tour of the Sistine Chapel. It was easy to order and when it was at. 7 in the morning, there were not many people around us. The guide was good. But unfortunately the company had forgotten that the pope was to bless a number of people after the end of Easter, so we did not get an exclusive tour of the church, unfortunately. But the guide was good for everything else we saw. And we get a refund of what we paid for the big trip, so it's ok. But really a shame as this was my 3rd trip to Rome and the first time I would pay a little more to get a nice tour of the church.
