Know before you go

  • Due to ongoing COVID-19 preventative measures, the passage from the Vatican Museums to the St. Peter's Basilica is closed. The tour will include a 3-hour visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel instead of St. Peter's.
  • The Basilica is not accessible until further notice
  • St. Peter's is closed during the following times: Wednesdays: 8:00 AM -12:00 PM, December 24 and 31.
  • During these times the tour will visit other parts of the museums.
  • The Vatican can get very crowded all year round. June, July and August are particularly busy as they are high-season months.
  •   All visitors must pass through airport-style security. During high season the wait at security may be up to 30 minutes.
  • On rare occasions, St. Peter's Basilica closes without notice. In this case, the tour will include a 3-hour visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel instead of St. Peter's. The tour operator will not offer refunds.

Claudia was so incredibly knowledgeable and clear and objective. I loved all the information she gave -- a combo of foundational, next level, and things we'd never know without really studying history deeply. The tour was efficient and she used all the walking and in-between time to give us context on all the things happening in the world and how they related so when we got to a place we could spend time just looking. The Sistine Chapel was even more astounding than we imagined and all the info leading up to it really made us appreciate it even more. I'm so glad we didn't just get an entry ticket. Night tour was totally worth it, much fewer crowds. Again, can't say it enough: ask for Claudia if possible. I wish we'd realized it was the last time we'd see her at the chapel because we would have tipped her. So, so, knowledgeable.

We met at the meeting point, got a green sticker and got to know our tour guide Antonio (the japanese speaking one ;)) at the same time. He alone was already an attraction before the tour even started. Great guy with a passion. You could tell from the first moment until the farewell. The guided tour (we booked it in English) went over to the entrance, through security, into the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. A great experience to have been fed with so much valuable information. Great, we would do it again and again. Grazie Antonio and see you next time, Rome!

If you need a last minute tour to the Vatican, I recommend this one! We unfortunately had to miss our earlier tour and booked this one on the train ride to the Vatican. It was literally the only one avaiakbrk that went to all the buildings we wanted to visit. Our guide was great. If you want to go to The Vaticsn, you really need a tour - much faster entrance, knows where to go inside the crazy huge museums, fast and skip the line access to the Basilica without having to backtrack and waste time. I wouldn't recommend going without a tour of some kinda. Highly recommend.
