Learn about the history, features and uniqueness of the geothermal area. After learning about the unique healing muds of Hells Gate, experience New Zealand’s historic spa experience for yourself! I’m from Australia and we don’t have anything like this there. So it was new to me. But I really enjoyed it! New Zealand is amazing. Wish you could spend more time in the mud baths, you’re only allocated 20 mins in those. But the spa (if you paid for it) you can spend as long as you want. We also turned up at the right time and was able to get a guided tour through Hells gate, which I’d recommend. Rather than just walking around aimlessly. There’s signs around to explain things but our guide was super knowledgeable and showed us some pretty cool stuff we wouldn’t otherwise have known. Very cool experience!

Excellent informative guided tour. Great mud bath!

Loved the guided tour. Very informative guide Josh, who even showed us how to carve at the end of tour. The mud bath is a must do. Warm showers to clean you off. Be sure to rinse suit well in cold water or mud and smell will linger. Also take your jewelry off and keep it off 24 hours.
