Full description
Ruvo is a small town located on the north of Bari, easily reachable by car or train from Bari. Some trace the first settlements of the city to the Middle Paleolithic age, while some remains point to around 6 BC. In the Greek age, Ruvo became a thriving and extensive village, a reference point for trade and the production of oil, wine and pottery. Visit the Jatta Museum and see precious vases and other objects which testify to the precious history of this city. See the splendidly preserved cathedral, an example of Romanesque-Apulian style with great artistic refinement. The hut facade has a beautiful portal enriched with floral bas-reliefs and a rose window. A pleasant walk in the old center will reveal a city rich in art and history, uncovering civil palaces belonging to noble families, such as Palazzo Caputi, Palazzo Avitaja and Palazzo Spada, the clock tower from 1604 and other monuments.
