Begin the tour at the Salem Witch Trials Visitor Center. Follow the route provided on the app for the best experience. Throughout the tour, learn of the mass hysteria which took hold of the residents of the town of Salem, and the now-infamous witch trials which took place in 1692. Stop at the Old Burying Point Cemetery and learn of the important figures buried there, including Judge John Hathorne, who was the chief judge presiding over the witch trials. Learn about Bridget Bishop, who was the first accused witch to be executed at Gallows Hill. Walk to the Joshua Ward House, a historic three-story Federal-style brick homestead built in 1784, the first of its kind in Salem. Stroll by the Gedney and Cox Houses and make your way to the Roger Conant Statue, which immortalizes the city's founder. Finish the tour at the colonial House of the Seven Gables. Learn about its historic significance and how it served as the inspiration for Nathaniel Hawthorne's 1851 Gothic novel, The House of the Seven Gables.
