Full description
Start your tour with a 3.5-hour drive from Salt Lake City to the entrance of the park. As you near the border of Canyonlands, the red rock cliffs begin to stretch skyward. After a hearty lunch, your guide will begin your tour of the park, tailored to your interest and activity level. Multiple cliff-top overlooks provide varying perspectives on how remote and unspoiled this area is. Mesa Arch provides a picture frame to the landscape in the distance below. An off-road detour following the Shafer Switchbacks delivers you deep into the canyon below, while your guide recounts the history of this trail carved into the canyon walls. This tour of Canyonlands will leave you with an appreciation for the depth of the canyons, the vastness of the landscape, and the struggle of the people who lived and worked in this harsh environment. On the return trip to Salt Lake City you will stop at your choice of several highly-recommended local restaurants for dinner. You will then be delivered back to the Salt Lake City area by 10:00 PM.

The two-day Arches and Canyonlands Tour with Desert Solitude was by far the highlight of our trip to Utah. Neil is topnotch as a tour guide and so knowledgeable of the National Parks as well as the surrounding area. It was a bonus to have Amber with our tour, she is also a great tour guide and captured some great photos. It was so nice for my husband to not have to keep an eye on the road while seeing the beautiful sights, all so impressive. It was very hot when we were at the Parks which Neil accommodated as much as possible in planning our itinerary. With a private tour we were able to do and see at our pace and get to places the larger tours would not be able to. The backstories he told of the area and knowing the best viewing spots and hikes made the trip so much more interesting than if we had toured the parks on our own. We highly recommend this tour.

Since it is a group tour for up to 6 people, if you can gather 6 participants, I think that it is a tour with a very high cost performance. It was about 4 hours from Salt Lake City to the park, but it was a comfortable drive. I spent about five hours in the park, traversing the delicate, double, skyline and window sections. November is a sunny day, so it is recommended that you can go around efficiently because it is not so crowded. The guides are also very kind and offer a simple barbecue for lunch. He also took a lot of photos and sent them by email. If you have the chance to go to Salt Lake City, take this tour by all means.
