  • From Salta: Salinas Grandes, Purmamarca & Los Colorados Hike

    1. From Salta: Salinas Grandes, Purmamarca & Los Colorados Hike

After departing from central Salta, drive through the picturesque towns of Yala, Volcán, and Tumbaya. On the way, stop at the Seven Colors Hill viewpoint to appreciate the wonderful views of the multi-hued mountain illuminated by the sun. Arrive in the magical village of Purmamarca at the base of the Seven Colors Hill. Start by ascending the slopes of Cuesta del Lipán, Cuesta del Saladillo, and Abra de Potrerillos. Keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife including vicunas and llamas along the way. When you reach 4,150 m above sea level, be dazzled by the Salinas Grandes - a spectacular white salt plain which creates a striking contrast with the blue sky. Spend about 45 minutes at the salt plain taking in the breathtaking views.  Follow the trail back to Purmamarca where you will have free time for lunch (not included in the tour price). Take the opportunity to stroll through the charm...

Amazing experience. The opportunity to see how the landscape changes from Salta Capital to Salinas Grandes is really great and everything went as expected. The only thing to mention is that Salinas Grandes itself is not as nice as we were expecting. The trip to get there is what really makes your day together with the guide’s explanation in order to understand why the landscape is as it is. Would certainly recommend this!

A passionate and knowledgeable guide made the trip. The salt flats are a phenomenon. We did pick up a couple of items from quality local craft outlets. The artist at the outside stand at yours highest point has some unique pieces. I regret not buying more

The trip was great. However they initially agreed to pick us up from hotel, they didn’t honor their agreement and we had to walk to the departure point. Try find a smaller group rather than a large bus load and you would probably enjoy it more.

Great day. Only three english speakers on a bus full of spanish speakers but Martín still went to a huge amount of effort and gave us just as much explanation and instruction in english as he gave the others in spanish.

Great activity led by Martin! The hike was beautiful although a bit too short, but still so beautiful!
