Samos: Full-Day Guided Island Bus Tour

1. Samos: Full-Day Guided Island Bus Tour

Start the tour by stepping back in time to the Ancient Greek era with a visit to the Temple of Hera. Admire this marvelous feat of construction which dates back to ancient time. Then, head north for a guided tour of the 15th-century Monastery of Megali Panagia, an excellent example of Byzantine Greek architecture. Enjoy a short walk through the traditional mountain village of Pyrgos which is famous for its honey and ceramics for a short walk. After visiting Pyrgos, make an optional stop in the area of Koutsi – an ideal place to take panoramic photos. After this, visit a traditional winery for a chance to taste some of the famous Samian wines. Continue the tour through the varied green landscape until you reach the 2nd large town on the island called Karlovassi. Stop here for lunch and admire the beautiful neoclassical houses and mansions.  Next, set off again along the wild and romantic north coast until you reach the enchanting Valley of Nightingales. Enjoy a short walk here and a welcome coffee stop. Finally, finish the tour with a visit to the charming and picturesque fishing village of Kokkari before returning back to Samos Town and Pythagorion where the tour ends.

What people are saying about Samos

The full day tour of Samos certainly packed a lot in! We visited the Hera temple, a pottery workshop, a winery and an olive oil factory as well as a stop at Kokkari. There was lots to see and some very good commentary. I’d recommend this tour to others to get a good snapshot of Samos. It is good value. Only downside was lunch which was ok but not much choice. I understand it is challenging to cater to big groups but some more choice would be good.

Great value for money. Covers all the major highlights of Samos. Educational and thoughtful.
