Full description
Following pick-up from your hotel in San Cristóbal de las Casas, head towards the ancient Maya city of Palenque and stop at the amazing waterfalls of Agua Azul along the way. Gaze in awe at the cascades, formed by the currents of the Otulún, Shumuljá and Tulijá rivers and shallow canyons banked by vertical cliffs. Get the chance to cool down with a swim, time permitting, and marvel at the different areas and landscapes of the natural wonder. Continue to the waterfalls of Misol-Ha, where the water can rise to heights of up to 30 meters in the natural rainforest surroundings. Then, discover the ruins of the Maya civilization at the archaeological site of Palenque. Admire the impressive buildings and structures of the former city state, including the Temple of the Foliated Cross and Temple of the Sun in the stunning Temple of the Cross group of step pyramids. Return to San Cristóbal at the end of the day for drop off at a central location.

Very long tour, so it can be a bit hard, but it's worth it. We stayed in Palenque, so we didn't have to make the 5 hour return. A very good option to visit things and move at the same time. If I had to improve something, without a doubt it would be the subject of breakfast and lunch. They are not included in the price and so indicated. The problem is that they take you to some fixed-price buffets where there are no more restaurant options, so I think it would be in the description or even add it up and include it in the price just like the tickets, since it is an expense in which the client will have to incur insurance. It would also not hurt to indicate in the description how the optional hiring of a guide in Palenque works (there are two different options), as well as its price, since our driver was not very clear when we got there and it can be a problem if only a few few of the group want to do the tour.

Departure at 3:30 am, it stings! Then 5 hours by minibus on bad roads and rain to the beautiful waterfalls of Agua Azul. Do not eat breakfast at the restaurant in the parking lot. Other restaurants offer views of the waterfalls. Then on the way to the waterfall of Misol-Ha, less spectacular. Finally arrived in Palenque around noon. The site is magnificent, nestled in the heart of the jungle. We took an English-speaking guide for 300 pesos per person. Then we spent the night in Palenque (the driver accepts carry-on type luggage). The next day, we took a taxi to Villahermosa airport (1000 pesos) which is 1h30 by (good) road.

What happens to a 17-hour bus tour? I started with worries, but there were meals and rest breaks on the way, and almost all of them slept while traveling. The Palenque archeological group was charged separately for the guide in English, and it seemed to be divided by the number of participants, but my car was myself, so I paid for the whole car and I could not deny it. I wish that the time was a little longer. It was a rush from the middle.
