Full description

On their own, Chinatown and North Beach stir your senses. Together, they awaken you to new flavors, new cultures, and to parts of your heart. Explore both on this unique combination walking tour.

Start by exploring Chinatown by twilight, including tasting Dim Sum from one of the oldest bakeries in this vibrant neighborhood. You will delve into Chinese mysticism and culture, as you explore local sculpture and architecture and see close up how fortune cookies are made by hand. Tea is to Chinatown as North Beach is to coffee and you will sample both. Search out authentic Chinese and Italian crafts and pottery. Uncover the hidden secrets only intrepid locals know. And you'll be astonished by new finds in secret alcoves. Explore the "Beat Generation" of North Beach as we visit the very place where Francis Ford Coppola wrote "The Godfather" screenplay and the location where Steve Allen got his start, which has not changed at all since they performed there. Try some pizza and wine in North Beach.

From wine to Dim Sum, fortune cookies, and teas, to cappuccinos in the very places where the Beat Generation started and Barbary Coast history that made San Francisco what it is.

What a very informative and entertaining tour of Chinatown and the North End. Brian was animated and very knowledgeable of so much history in these areas. The sites we saw, the cuisine we sampled and wonderful people we met were outstanding. There was so much to see and talk about we kept running over. Both cultures are so interesting 3 hrs is just not enough. Thank you Brian for showing us iconic places and educating us!! I hope to take the tour again with or without out of town guests.

This tour was outstanding! Isabella was very knowledgeable and personable. Lots of interesting information and great food. The time at the tea shop was a real highlight. The whole booking process was painless, even when we had to change dates last minute. The wheelchair access info we were provided in advance was much appreciated. Certainly show challenging hills, but every place we went was accessible and we even managed to find a wheelchair restroom that worked!

The Chinatown and North Beach walking tour is a fantastic experience. Tom runs a first rate operation and Brian is an excellent guide. Brian is very knowledgeable! He really makes sure you have fun and get the most of your experience. This was the best ticket I purchased in San Francisco.
