Lisbon: Tagus River Express Cruise in a Traditional Vessel

1. Lisbon: Tagus River Express Cruise in a Traditional Vessel

Enjoy a guided boat trip in the historical heart of Lisbon, along the River Tagus. Discover Portugal's 18th century history as your guide and sailor shares informative commentary as your cruise down the beautiful river.  The 45 minute cruise begins from the Terreiro do Paço River Station. You will see from the river the wonderful landscape of the historical city center, passing by Commerce Square, Sao Jorge Castle, Alfama, National Pantheon and Santa Apolonia Station. On the return, sail through the middle of the river to observe the enchanting hills of Lisbon and from a distance, the grandeur of the 25 de Abril Bridge and Christ the King. The tour is in a traditional and unique 1947 sailing cargo boat with capacity for 50 people. The boat is decorated in warm tones and numerous hand-painted flowers, that give a touch of charm and authenticity. In the late 1960s with the introduction of road bridges, these vessels entered into disuse and of the thousands of boats that existed only about 75 survived, duly registered in the Marinha do Tejo, living part of Portuguese Navy Museum. Experience a river cruise on this truly unique piece of history.

It was very nice to watch Lisbon from the water and with the warm sunset lights you can take some great pictures. The description in 3 languages is quite standard and should be enriched with more interesting stories from the life of the sailors that certainly are not lacking in a city like Lisbon. The boat is sailing, but you travel by motor. Some problems for the loudspeakers that worked in fits and starts precise instructions and no problems for boarding, with a little delay (like a bit of everything here in Lisbon with no rush ... :)) But let yourself be lulled and enjoy the breeze of wind and water is however an experience to be recommended!

Really good value ! The whole experience was just great. The guide was really informative in an engaging and interesting way. The trip was a good lengths for the cost.
