We leave from Funchal to the village of Santa Cruz for a short stop. Then, we start the trip to Porto da Cruz, where we visit the Sugarcane Mill where there is the possibility to taste the famous and typical regional drink “Poncha”, made with sugarcane brandy. We continue until we reach Santana, along dirt roads and winding through the green of the Laurissilva that will take us to the parish of Ilha and S. Jorge where we can appreciate the natural beauty, passing by the viewpoint of Boca das Voltas with a magnificent view. From here we head towards Arco de S. Jorge, already by the sea, for lunch. After this break, we continue along the north coast, passing through Boaventura, Ponta Delgada and São Vicente, where we will stop at Quinta do Barbusano, to visit the property and taste the wines produced there. In the wine tasting you can taste red, white and rosé wines. In the late afternoon we return to Funchal.

The Madeira Whale Museum’s permanent exhibitions occupy over 1,000m2 divided into two rooms. The permanent exhibitions are open to the public since September 2011 and the visitor is invited to explore the waters around Madeira to discover its riches and learn more about the whales, dolphins, and other marine life that inhabit these waters. The visitor is also transported in time to the early 1940s, to learn more about the history of whaling in Madeira. The exhibition begins in the Whaling Room, with the rediscovery of ancient times through a series of objects, printed images, movies, and multimedia kiosks. This room is divided into several thematic areas, ranging from the operation of the lookout network to the factory for processing the animals, as well as the hunting techniques, the reconstruction of the whaling fleet and crews, and the contextualization of whaling in Madeira on the world.

The Madeira Theme Park, located in the city of Santana, is a fantastic exhibition center dedicated to the history, science and tradition of the Madeira Islands. It occupies an area of 145,000 m2 and should not be missed by visitors; it is the only one of its kind in Portugal. The Park's main attractions are the four multimedia pavilions; "Discovery of the Islands", "Future of the Earth", "Fantastic Voyage in Madeira" and "A World of Islands, The Islands of the World". A replica of the Monte train, traditional oxcarts and nets, a traditional Santana. The visit to the garden area is open to all, an open space area disclosing some specimens of the island indigenous flora, and footpaths, which are also among some interesting features of this cultural and scientific attraction.
