Full description

Rolling hills, towering cliffs, diverse beaches...Santander has now evolved into one of Spain's most popular resorts for wealthy or noble Madrilenos (people from Madrid). Damaged by a fire in 1941, parts of the city have been re-built retaining the original architectural style.

The reconstructed area houses Santander's most popular Gothic Cathedral. To make a visit more complete, guests should walk from the immense Palace grounds and then take a route along the Pla de Camel and the Playa Primera de El Sardinero to end at the Jardines de Piquio.

Upgrade your experience to include a guided tour of the Magdalena Palace, the former home of the Spanish Royal Family. The upgraded option also includes a round-trip train ticket to the palace.

It was very interesting to hear the information from Santander. The German translation was really easy to understand, both in terms of content and pronunciation. The bus was well maintained and the staff was helpful. I had an e-ticket where you couldn't do anything at first, but then it was no problem.

Cheaper with Getyourguide

In Santander we wanted to take the Hop & off bus locally. There they were asked for € 23.50 (including a city tour). Getyourguide offered the bus for € 15 (without a guide). Since we only wanted the bus and it could not be booked locally, we were able to buy a ticket online within 2 minutes, which then worked without any problems ;-)

Unfortunately it wasn't quite as good as Bilbao as departure times seemed very flexible. You didn't know if and when the next bus would come, so it started in the morning. On the bus it is said that the harbor tour is included in the ticket and you can simply change. If you do that and are standing by the boat in the middle of nowhere, you will be told that the online ticket does not count and that you have to pay another 10€. Nevertheless, it was worth it, even if the Spanish lady on board was EXTREMELY loud and annoying, I didn't understand anything because everything was told in Spanish.
