Full description
Leave your hotel early in the morning and head to San Pedro de Macoris. San Pedro de Macoris is well known as the hometown of the famous Dominican rum brand, Barceló. On your way, pass through seemingly endless sugar cane fields glowing under the Caribbean sun in different color shades ranging from beige to green.  Reach the Historical Barceló Museum and start your journey into the world of sugar cane processing. You will receive an introduction into the history behind the Ron Barcelo Imperium. Back in 1929, Julian Barceló founded Barceló & Co and almost 50 years later he handed the business to his nephew Miguel Barceló, who converted the family company into the modern Ron Barceló Imperium.  During the tour of the factory, you will receive a detailed explanation of the processing of sugar cane until it becomes the gold brown translucent alcoholic beverage. You will be shown the storerooms as well as the quality test laboratory. At the end of this tour is a small rum tasting. You can purchase gifts at your own expense.
