Full description
Your day begins with a tour of Bonaventure Cemetery to learn about the lives of notable inhabitants like Academy Award-winning songwriter Johnny Mercer, Georgia’s first governor Edward Telfair, philanthropist Mary Telfair, as well as the tragic tales of poet Conrad Aiken and Gracie Watson. The Cemetery walking tour meanders under moss-draped oaks and along the bluff of the Wilmington River. Bonaventure Cemetery, dating back to 1846, is one of the most beautiful cemeteries. Following the cemetery tour, you will have lunch on your own at Erica Davis Low country restaurant, a local favorite whose owner and family have deep ties in Savannah. Their focus on Coastal Southern Cuisine brings together fresh seafood, barbecue, and southern sides in a menu that embodies the Low country. After lunch, the day continues to Wormsloe Historic site and a drive through the picturesque Isle of Hope Historic District. Your visit to Wormsloe includes a breathtaking drive down the famous live oak tree-lined drive. You will take a short walk to see the Plantation Tabby Ruins that date to the 18th Century and visit the museum of the Georgia State Park Historic Site. After Wormsloe, you will drive down Bluff Dr to view the Intercoastal waterway and the magnificent houses that range in style from Greek Revival to Craftsman Bungalows. After this drive along the bluff, the thought of looking for a Realtor will come to mind. Finally, a stop is scheduled at the Famous Savannah Byrd Cookie Company headquarters for shopping and tastings of Byrd’s Famous Cookies. Key Lime, Bennie Bits and Cheddar Cheese are just of few of the favorites.

It was a good tour. We weren’t too sure what to expect from the description so the amount of time in the cemetery surprised us. Not a bad thing, but the description of the tour times would have been good to set expectations. The lunch stop was in a different place than what was advertised - again, no problems with this as lunch was great, but maybe the tour description just needs an update. Otherwise, we did enjoy the tour and do recommend it, the cemetery storytelling by Dennis was well delivered with passion and energy.

Usually my wife and I don't do tours but this is our 1st time to Savannah and decided to go ahead and book one. So glad we did. Dennis was our guide and he was extremely knowledgeable of local history. He talked the whole time but also had the time to answer questions. We would certainly go on another tour and would love for Dennis to be our guide.

My best friend of almost 40 years and I decided to come to Savannah to celebrate our 50th year of life and of course, had to book a ghost tour as one of our explorations as she loves paranormal stuff! We met Jess last night on the 13 Ghosts tour at 9 pm. It was Jess' first tour and she did such a great job! She is a great storyteller and really kept the group talking and interested in the tour. We had such a great time and came to love Savannah even more than we already did! Thank you, Jess for treating us to such a great experience. The history behind the stories was fascinating to learn about.
