Bremen: Walking Tour of Historic Schnoor District

1. Bremen: Walking Tour of Historic Schnoor District

Enjoy a relaxing shared or private walking tour through Bremen's historical Schnoor neighborhood. The first-known written reference to Schnoor dates back to the 13th century. At this time, a Franciscan monastery was built on the edge of what is now the Schnoor district. Today, only the monastery church remains. The present Catholic St. John's Church was built in the 14th century, in a redbrick Gothic style. Many houses from the 17th and 18th centuries are still preserved in their original state, giving a romantic feeling of life during earlier times. During the walking tour, see some of the oldest remaining profane buildings, such as "Haus Schnoor 15," also known as "Brasilhaus," and "Packhaus Schnoor 2," dating back to the 15th century. Take a look at some of these houses, recreated according to historical specifications. Admire the half-timbered house with the tea room or the buildings that now consist only of facades, which once stood elsewhere. Immerse yourself in the impressive architecture of classicism and historicism, Baroque and Renaissance, as you learn all about Schnoor and its inhabitants.

What people are saying about Schnoor

Tour highly recommended

The tour of the Schnoorviertel was great: informative, entertaining and very well tailored to our group. The small stories and additional information allow you to experience a city in a completely different and much more intense way. Our guild Oliver Söhlke is highly recommended, as it tells an exciting story and reaches everyone in the group. We were with three generations (from 18 to 85) as part of a family tour in the Schnoorviertel (tour 1 hour) and everyone really liked it. Top recommendation!!!!

Informative and varied tour through the Schnoor district. Lively stories and anecdotes presented by the guide at several stations. The time passed very quickly and there was never a feeling of boredom. We recommend. However, the price (200 €) is a bit too high for an hour tour. The performance was 5 stars.

Our guide through the Schnorr, I think his name was Oliver, made the tour varied and exciting in a friendly, calm and knowledgeable way from many aspects. You could always ask questions, which could always be answered.

Very interesting tour of the beautiful Bremen old town... with its narrow streets and pretty houses’ facades... very friendly and knowledgeable guide...

Great guide with lots of historic knowledge, brought with a nice touch of humour.
