Seoul: Gwangjang Market & Fortress Wall Tour with Food

1. Seoul: Gwangjang Market & Fortress Wall Tour with Food

Take an insider's look at Seoul as you join your guide on a walking tour of the South Korean capital's famous Gwangjang Market, Chenggyecheon stream, Heunginjimun Gate, Seoul Fortress Wall, and Ihwa Mural Village. Learn about the local culture and sample some culinary delights on the way. Start with a tour of Gwangjang Market, Seoul’s first and oldest covered market, to sample popular street food like Kimbab (seaweed and rice roll), Bindaeddoek (mung bean pancake), or Ddeokbokki (rice cake). The city's biggest street food hot spot also sells hanbok, traditional Korean clothing. Next, walk along Cheonggyecheon stream where locals love to hang out and relax there to escape from city life. The stream was paved over as part of post-war economic development in 1958 and restored in 2003. Soon, arrive at the Heunginjimun Gate (Dongdaemun), a Korean national treasure. It was first constructed in 1396 as one of the main gates in the Fortress Wall of Seoul. Only this gate has an outer wall among the eight gates of the city. Moving on, walk along the Hanyangdoseong (Seoul Fortress Wall), built to protect the old Seoul, Hanyang from foreign enemies in the Joseon dynasty. As you admire the series of walls made of stone and wood, also soak in some amazing views of the city from the fortress. To conclude the tour, visit the Ihwa Mural Village, a unique spot fully devoted to street art and wall murals. Explore this artistic enclave and learn how the neighborhood transformed from a ghost town to a colorful attraction.

I had a wonderful experience on my Gwangjang Market & Fortress Wall Tour with Honey Trail! The food was delicious! I truly enjoyed the walk along the stream and the Fortress Wall, which was (to my delight) longer than I expected with some good hills included - wonderful views and parts of the city I might not have seen on my own. Thanks to Honey Trail for a fantastic experience and introducing me to new parts of Seoul that now love and hope to return to!
