João picked us up close to our Airbnb. Then we drove round about 45 minutes to the first vineyard/museum. We were shown around and learned about the history of the company (7 generations) and how the vineyard is making wine. Afterwards we had a wine tasting with two wines. The second spot was a farm where we saw cork trees, tasted grapes from the bush and tried 5 local wines. The last stop was a village that acts as a storage for local producers. Here we tried another 5 wines and had a great goat cheese plate. You are not forced or animated at any stage of the trip to purchase the wine. It's your personal choice. João is a very talkative person. We learned a lot about wines from him, but also Portuguese olive oil, his personal story and wine-production efforts. He's a really great guy and we totally recommend the trip. The whole trip was covid19 regulations conform. A small tip - take some water with you because there was none offered with the wine tasting.
Our excellent guide Paulo arrived 15 mins early at the hotel which worked well as we were able to get out of Lisbon with plenty of time for a coffee before the first wine tour. Paulo was very knowledgeable and engaging. He was very proud of his Portuguese heritage and was passionate about the tour, the wine, the food and the beautiful countryside. The first 2 vineyards had some excellent wines to taste and we brought a few bottles. There was no hard sell which was refreshing! We were given the opportunity to have lunch in a local fish restaurant which was one of the highlights of the day. The last vineyard was fabulous and had some fantastic spirits and liquors as well as some delicious cheese. Suffice to say we slept all the way home. I would have no hesitation in recommending this tour or this company. Very professional, very knowledgeable and definitely excellent value for money.
Joao runs a great tour, a little different than your typical wine tour. He puts a lot of effort so you can understand the history of wine making in this region and connects it with history of the country. He also uses nice, quiet and beautiful wineries, avoiding the crowded touristy ones. He even slightly adjusts the tastings to your preferences. He is VERY knowledgeable, and has a tendency to give more detail than you might need; but you’ll walk away having tasted some great wines and knowing a lot!
Ricardo did a great job on our private Wine Tasting Tour to Setúbal. The three locations were all different and a very varying choice. We were never in a hurry. The wine was great and the area really beuatiful. Cheese, jam and bread at the Arrabidine was delicious and enough for lunch. Furthermore, Ricardo gave us a lot of valuable suggestions on what to to on our trip in Lissabon and to the Algarve. We would definitely recommend to book that tour.
Our tour was great. Our guide Paulo was so great and enthusiastic. He was so knowledgeable about the area and made us really feel like we were being shown around by a friend rather than a tour guide. The wineries were great and the whole region is just beautiful. Definitely recommend this tour.
