Frequently asked questions about Singapore

Planning Your Visit

  • Eat like the locals

Amongst Singapore's many highlights, food ranks very highly. However, the best meals are not necessarily found in the many restaurants, but out on the streets, where the local population eats. Visit any of the city's numerous hawker centers and take your pick from one of the many stalls offering cuisine from all over Asia. Not only will the food be delicious, but you won't believe how little it costs!

  • Proper etiquette

Singapore boasts a large variety of cultures, many of which have specific and sometimes strict social customs. While a certain level of ignorance is tolerated in tourists, if you're invited to dinner or to someone's house, it's good to inform yourself about proper cultural etiquette in order to avoid offending your hosts.

  • Bring a sweater

Though Singapore's weather is hot all year around, the air-conditioning is kept at very high levels indoors. It's a good idea to carry a sweater with you, as visitors unaccustomed to the air-conditioning can easily catch a cold from the frequent temperature jumps.

Our guide Jon met us as arranged and shared with us stories of Singapore from the original inhabitants to the Chinese migration and the Malay and Indian inhabitants. We tried the Chinese jerky and had wonderful satay at the hawkers market. After a quick train trip to Marina Bay Sands we enjoyed the light show and took some more pictures at the prime viewing spots! Jon also recommended some must do things and some must eat foods before directing us to the MTR to wend our way back to our hotel!

For first timers, we really enjoyed this experience. It was fun and exciting. Our host was also very friendly and kind. Would definitely recommend to those out there looking for something fun to do in Singapore.

Enjoyed the service provided, was a such good experience to rest, eat and showered before boarding.
