Full description
Plovdiv, the second biggest city in Bulgaria, is considered to be one of the oldest settlements in Europe, with more than 7000 years of history. Plovdiv is situated on the crossroads between the West and the East, amid the fertile plain of Thrace, where history and modernity go hand in hand. See how culture and art have always thrived in this city as you explore a vivid medley of shapes, styles, and colors. The city is home to the fabulous remains of the Ancient Roman Empire – the Roman Stadium, the Roman Forum, and the Amphitheatre. During your time in the city, you can discover the Old Town of Plovdiv, situated on the three hills of the ancient Trimontium. See the houses from the National Revival period, which  have been proclaimed an architectural open air museum. Discover many of the main sights in the area with a guide.

Plovdiv is the place to go for mood and beauty. In the city, which is 7 thousand years old (that is, it is "older" than Jerusalem, for example), you can see the ruins of grandiose structures of the ancient period, but, the most interesting, unusual and picturesque is the old city with buildings of the "Bulgarian revival" of the 18-19th centuries. Wall paintings, wood carvings, a lot of greenery and the uniqueness of the buildings themselves make it the most picturesque place. The excursion was organized in the best possible way: in the morning a minibus with a guide picks up tourists from their place of residence, and in the evening returns there. The groups are small, we "got" a guide named Maria, a very, very pleasant, knowledgeable and, so to speak, "helpful" person. Maria told the most interesting things, but those who were not interested could not listen to the story, but simply walk along the streets of the old city and take pictures of the

A top experience

We had a great day out with Ilia our driver/guide. Ilia was punctual, courteous, spoke English fluently, very knowledgeable & shared his country’s history with passion. He was very flexible with time, allowing us to nominate how much free time we had after our guided tour of Plovdiv. It was a perfect day out. Highly recommended by all in our group.

Great visit

The trip to Plovdiv is very well organized: the visit of the city in a "small circuit" way is pleasant, we visit the most significant places while enjoying the atmosphere of the city. The guide is clear, gives interesting anecdotes and good addresses, and presents some hidden sites of the city. My only regret is that the free time of visit has been shortened, but this remains completely independent of the organization (road accident). In addition, being in a small group allows you to ask questions and have a real discussion with the guide (and the rest of the group). I highly recommend this visit !!
