Today there are buried at this memorial site more than 20,000 Soviet/Russian, 2,000 Romanian and 60,000 German soldiers and officers who fell during the fight for Stalingrad, 1942-1943. On 23rd August 1998, the Soviet military memorial cemetery was opened and on the 15th of May 1999 in front of the Soviet one was opened a fraternal cemetery of German soldiers. During this tour to the village of Rossoshka, you will learn about the fierce fighting that took place here during August 1942 and January 1943. Highly recommend!

The guides English was just a little under practiced but he more than made up for it with his superb historical knowledge from the 15th century to his understanding and input on modern economic and political developments. All delivered in a delicious package of Volgogradian patriotism.
