From Reykjavik: Northern Lights Guided Tour with Photo Shoot

1. From Reykjavik: Northern Lights Guided Tour with Photo Shoot

Join this 16 people maximum tour, You will be picked up from either your hotel, guesthouse or bus stop starting 30 minutes before departure time (Please allow a thirty-minute window for everyone to be picked up) The journey will take us outside of the city limits away from any light pollution as the Northern Lights are harder to see from Reykjavík. To which location it is hard to say, it will depend on the cloud coverage and activity in the evening. The drive will be kept as short as possible and you might stop at several locations as the lights can be quite elusive and often it will be a waiting game for this beautiful phenomenon, which might be perfect while your guide sets up his camera for the free photoshoot of your group. On this journey we are going to offer you blankets, hot chocolate, and snacks.

Reykjavik: Golden Circle, Volcano Crater, & Fridheimar Tour

Visit Iceland’s natural wonders on this 8-hour minibus tour accompanied by a professional guide. The Golden Circle route covers a 300km loop from Reykjavík to central Iceland and back. Visit Thingvellir, a pivotal landmark that connects all the major events in the founding of the Icelandic commonwealth. It’s also the best place on earth to view the North Atlantic divergent ridge. Stop at Fríðheimar farm, owned by the same family since 1995. The family, besides growing tomatoes and cucumbers, are passionate about horses. Enjoy a truly unique experience and meet the Icelandic horses up close on a visit to the stables. You might get a chance to pet them and maybe take a selfie! Lunch (at your own expense) will be held in the greenhouse where you will have the possibility to purchase local products on the menu after a visit of the stables. See Gullfoss, which is considered the most beautiful of Iceland’s 30,000 waterfalls. You’ll also see Kerið, a striking crater lake filled with milky blue-green water and surrounded by stark black and deep red slopes.

After pickup in Reykjavik, set off on your tour in a minibus. Make your way first to the Gullfoss Waterfalls, and admire this powerful and hypnotizing natural phenomenon. Continue to the stunning Geysir Geothermal Area and witness the Strokkur Geyser erupt every few minutes. Next, feast your eyes on Thingvellir National Park, the site of the ancient parliament of the Viking Commonwealth, founded in 930 A.D. Enjoy the unique chance to walk between two continents in a rift valley created by the drifting apart of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Afterward, stop for lunch (not included) at Friðheimar tomato farm where green geothermal energy is used to harvest tomatoes. Following this, prepare to pamper yourself with a visit to the "Gamla Laugin" thermal pool. This thermal pool, now renamed Secret Lagoon, is perfect for avoiding the crowds and mingling with the locals. Formed in 1891, it boasts the oldest swimming pool in Iceland and is maintained at a constant temperature of 38-40° Celsius.

Vík: Paragliding Tandem Flight

4. Vík: Paragliding Tandem Flight

Paragliding is the calmest and safest form of free flying known to man. A tandem flight is performed with an experienced instructor pilot. Once the wing is inflated and safety checks are done you take a few steps down a slope then you step into the air. Tandem paragliding flights vary in duration and it is not possible to guarantee a specific flight time due to the changeable nature of the wind and general weather conditions in Iceland. The times for morning, afternoon or evening take-off are only an indication. Allow +/- 2 hrs in your itinerary and call the supplier the day before to re-confirm as we will be aware of the weather forecast. It is aimed to fly for 10-15 minutes, but if weather conditions are not ideal and the flight might be short, the provider will tell you beforehand. You only when the weather conditions are safe. If conditions are anything less than perfect before take-off, you can wait for them to improve or walk away and try again another time. A full refund will be offered for any flight cancellations due to weather conditions or any other safety considerations. An Introductory Paragliding Tandem Flight is always at your own risk.

Howser was our enthusiastic tour guide who made the most of things being shuffled around on him last minute - without enough drivers, two tours in a similar area were merged. He handled this amazingly and gave us a very in depth and passionate tour of the Golden Circle, and even more! I would highly, highly recommend requesting a tour with him by name if you could, he left that strong an impression on my group. He clearly loves his country and is very eager to share all his insight with travellers so that they too, can appreciate this beautiful land.

The activity is fantastic! Moreover, the location is also wonderful for paragliding. We had never done that before, and the team also managed the activity excellently, also providing interesting explanations about Vik and Iceland, as you soar like a bird in the air. Top team!

Howser, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and very entertaining. The visit to the farmhouse was very informative and the food at the restaurant was delicious.
