Full description

Visit Croatia's first national park, Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of the greatest natural wonders of Europe. Also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park's unique geology makes for a popular destination for people from all around the world. Your tour starts at 7:00 AM and lasts for approximately 10 hours. Meet up in Split and be greeted by your guide and board your transportation for the day. While driving to the park, have the chance to enjoy the beautiful Croatian landscape.

Upon arrival to the park, you will be given a map of the park and told about the day's itinerary. Then, have 4 hours of free time to explore 16 beautiful lakes of crystal blue-green water and hypnotic cascades, tour 7 different routes, hike 4 different trails, or just lounge in the shade.

Plitvice's natural phenomenon causes it to constantly change through sedimentation of calcium carbonate. It creates special kinds of algae and moss, tufa, or travertine which are deposited to form the natural dams that separate the lakes.

See the changing travertine barriers, curtains, stalactites, channels, and cascades being built and the existing ones. Besides the lakes, there are some interesting caves in which remains of prehistoric settlements have been found. After touring you can also catch a boat or train ride.

At around 5:00 PM you will head back to Split and arrive around 8:00 PM

The destination itself is well worth the trip, but what really made this tour special was our local guide Biljana, and the driver George. Biljana was such an amazing tour guide, you could tell that she really knew what she was talking about and her passion for the park. George was such a great guy, he would tell us stories through the long trip to and from the park, and would constantly make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed during the long drive. I would definitely recommend this tour to whoever, especially with Biljana and George!

One of the best waterfalls I have seen. The drive with George, our driver, was fun. He told us so much about Croatia and split on the way. On reaching the Plitvice lakes, we met our local guide Bijlana who showed us around and also told us some facts about the place. She made sure we had enough rest while walking but also did not miss any beautiful spot of the national park. I highly recommend this trip .
