Split to Dubrovnik via Mostar: Private Day Trip

9. Split to Dubrovnik via Mostar: Private Day Trip

Drive for 2 hours to reach Mostar. The world-famous Stari Most (Old Bridge) is Mostar's indisputable visual focus. Its pale stone arch magnificently throws back the golden glow of the sunset or the tasteful night-time floodlighting. The bridge's swooping stone arch was originally built between 1557 and 1566 on the orders of Suleyman the Magnificent. Situated on the Neretva River and the fifth-largest city in the country, Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over the Neretva in medieval times. The Old Bridge, built by the Ottomans in the 16th century, is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most visited landmarks, and is considered an exemplary piece of Islamic architecture in the Balkans. Wonder at the sites and take in the rich cultural history of this city.  Visit a family home in the village of Hardomilje and experience a way of life which has changed very little over the generations and is based on organically grown food and homemade specialties. The Trebižat river is the perfect setting for a relaxing boat ride in a traditional wooden boat. You’ll see nature’s best from the banks, and hear about the old customs and traditions while having a drink. The pristine waters of the Trebizat River are home to brown trout and crabs and during the summer months, you’re more than welcome to go for a swim. After the boat ride, a local lunch is included with loads of homemade delicacies. After lunch, take a transfer to Dubrovnik.

Split: Blue Cave, 5 Islands, & Snorkeling Speedboat Tour

10. Split: Blue Cave, 5 Islands, & Snorkeling Speedboat Tour

Start your day early and enjoy a full day of island hopping by luxury yacht and visiting all the highlights of the area. Blue Cave, one of the top locations reachable from Split, will welcome you with a million shades of blue as you will arrive just in time to see nature in action. The cave turns aquamarine blue when the sun reflects through the sea floor and decorates the interior of the cave with the prettiest blue you’ll ever have a chance to witness. Another hidden treasure just a few minutes away from the Blue Cave is the famous Monk Seal Cave. This 160-meter-long cave is an adventurous paradise named after the Mediterranean monk seal that used to reside on its beach. Another beauty created by mother nature is the famous Stiniva Beach hidden in a small narrow cove behind two tall cliffs that separate the serenity of the beach from the open sea. Make the most of your time in this location by exploring the beach. Enjoy swimming and snorkeling, feel free to dive in and take a look beneath the surface – you’re sure to be amazed by the underwater scenery. The next stop is Budikovac Island with its wonderful Turquoise Lagoon. A fun fact about the island is that it is inhabited only by one person most of the year. The lagoon attracts visitors from all over the world with its amazing color that constantly changes from darker to lighter as the sun moves on the horizon. The journey continues towards Pakleni Islands and the famous bay of Palmižana. Hidden in a dense pine tree forest and often filled with different boats and yachts, the bay of Palmižana is highly ranked among the visitors to Hvar Island. Relax and enjoy the local cuisine. The final point of the tour is the city of Hvar. Visit the old town of Hvar, the sunniest spot in the country, and explore its historic core with all the amazing stone houses, elegant buildings, traffic-free streets, and inviting restaurants. Make the most of your free time here and get to know the easy-going life on the island, taste Hvar’s signature dish — gregada, experience eating in the authentic local taverns — konobas, or discover Croatian Renaissance in the old house of the poet Petar Hektorović. A fun-filled day out on the sea exploring the highlights of the Adriatic Sea will finish with a pleasant boat ride back to the shore where you’ll surely find time to retell and recollect all the memories and fun moments.

I remember Petra is our tall, handsome 6 ft 3 inches tour guide on our trip from Split to Plitvice on 26 September 22. Petra spoke well in excellent English. On the coach from Split, Petra provided running commentaries of some of the sights along the way and an excellent account of the History, Economics and even some Politics of his lovely country, Croatia. Plitvice, National Park, my experience and not forgetting the beautiful photographs taken at Plitvice is definitely a visit not to be missed. I would strongly recommend seeking the help of Petra and his company as your guide on your next trip to Plitvice and or other sites in Croatia.
