Full description
Visit the imperial palaces and gardens of Peterhof, founded in 1710 as the country residence of the Russian czars. Get a better appreciation for life in Russia before the revolution on a small group tour of the buildings and park. Enter the Grand Place, designed as the centerpiece of Peter the Great's personal Versailles complex. Be amazed by the lavish interiors, and learn how they had to be almost entirely reconstructed after World War II. Proceed to the Lower Gardens and stroll around the fountains and other features. Inspired by the formal French gardens of the 17th century, highlights of the elegant grounds include the Grand Cascade and the Chess Mountain, tiled like a chess board.

The guide was great and was more than willing to explain further stuff to us and answer all our questions. She was very well-versed in Russian history. She even pointed out other places in the city that we could visit. Besides, she was very friendly. I would love to send her a thank-you note through you please.

Beautiful palace and gardens, great tour.

Our lovely tour guide met us under the Alexander column and we took an airconditioned bus out to Peterhof. The gardens were beautiful, and we walked around the fountains and enjoyed the views. Our guide told us about the history of the palace and gardens. When it was time to go into the palace it was very busy and crowded. The museum employees herded us through, which was annoying. However the palace is beautiful and still well worth seeing.

Peterhof Palace’s Fountains is the no. 1 must-see in St Petersburg.

There was a problem with timing and the entrance to the Palace was not allowed at first. But I must emphasize the creative efficiency of our guide Darya in solving everything the best way for out group. Cordial, attentive and helpful at all times, she gave us precious information about Peterhof Palace.
