On the other side you'll find one of Stockholm's largest nature reserves. Whilst kayaking and exploring the islands from the water, listen to local stories about the area, which was once home to Vikings over 1,000 years ago. Soak up the scenic winter views and feel immersed in the tranquility, despite being just 30-minutes from Stockholm. At the end of an unforgettable experience, it’s time to begin the journey back to the starting point, admiring the last of the views along the way before warming up over a cup of coffee.

Stockholm: Winter Nature Hike with Campfire Lunch

4. Stockholm: Winter Nature Hike with Campfire Lunch

Make your way to the meeting point and take a short 15-minute drive to a nature reserve in the Swedish wilderness. Upon arrival, put on your wooly hat and begin your adventure into the pristine snow. On the way, learn about plants, Scandinavian animals, and natural scenery. Avoid the paths as much as possible so you will get an appreciation for the depth of the forest and its secret spots. Take a break at around noon and build a fire to warm up. Cook lunch and enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee or tea cooked on the open flames. In the Swedish winter, it won't be long before the sun sets on the horizon, so torch lamps will be needed for the last part of the hike. The afternoon is usually the best time to spot animals. If the temperature allows, walk on one of the frozen lakes on your way out of the nature reserve, before returning to the city full of memories.

What people are saying about Stockholm

My boyfriend and I came to Stockholm for a week escape and were really excited to find this adventure. Andy and the team were so lovely and the kyaking was an unforgettable experience. I’d never been kyaking before and was quite nervous but felt so at ease by the wonderful team and excellent training. We cannot recommend a better way of seeing the Archipelago nor a nicer group to do it with!

We really enjoyed our kayaking! Andy was a great guide and the gear provided was amazing! I was worried about being cold but wasn’t at all. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore Sweden in a unique way! It was a great experience and I would love to come back in summer!

It was a Great experience, I have never done this actitivity and I am sure I will do it again in summer. Both guides were amazing explaining all the surroundings.

Amazing experience! The weather was a bit unfriendly (snow and wind), but the adventure was worth it! And you don't need to be too fit for it (which is good! :)

Amazing experience, wonderful landscape and nice guide
