Koh Samui: Ethical Elephant Home

1. Koh Samui: Ethical Elephant Home

Koh Samui Elephant Home was established to help care for and conserve elephants as well as returning them to their natural habitat to increase the Asian elephant population in Thailand. The centre offers the ability to take part in a morning or afternoon visit, to see just what the program is about. Start your day with a pickup from your hotel or villa around the island arriving at Koh Samui Elephant Home. Meet with your guide who will offer a warm welcome and receive a welcome drink. Listen as your guide explains to you the plight of the center, and how you can help. After your introduction, take part in the harvesting of organic food for the elephants and even get to feed them up close. Make sure to bring your camera along for some truly remarkable holiday memories. Afterwards, you'll get to watch them as they play in the mud spa as they cool themselves down. During your tour, you'll also get to walk with the elephants into the jungle over 10 acres of land. See their real habitat and enjoy a relaxing stroll in nature.  Continue on your journey to visit the first elephant nursery on Koh Samui. Have fun whilst you feed them, rub their skin and take photos with them before you set them free to enjoy nature by themselves. To complete your fabulous outing, enjoy some vegetarian food and seasonal fruits whilst you watch a surprise video before being transferred back to your hotel.

Mr Hon greeted us with a professional welcome. Asking for our personal choice of itinerary. Mr Hon gave us an immediate plan of route we would be taking. Offering us water refreshments. Upon arrival of each chosen point of interest Mr Hon gave a brief description and offering to take photos of us both. Mr Hon was very considerate at the Grandfather and Grandmother Rock of our safety and ability to walk to the best point for photo opportunities. Mr Hon drove at a considerate speed and pace which allowed us to see parts of the island. Mr Hon was polite courteous throughout our 4 hour trip.

We had an unforgettable day. Everything was just right. The attitude and care of the animals is just wonderful. The staff is also absolutely lovely. Here, elephants are treated as they deserve. Live simply and have great contact with people. There is nothing to complain about at all. On the contrary, one can only praise how great the camp, the animals and people are.
