Full description
See some of Australia’s iconic native animals in this exceptional full-day tour. This is an in-the-wild experience, traveling to private farmland and huge areas of pristine Australian Bushland in the Southern Highlands, just 90 minutes south of Sydney. You will travel in a luxury off-road vehicle equipped for great wildlife viewing with a guide who can explain to you all you see. Walk through towering forests of Grey Gums in search of koalas, look for platypus along the riverbanks and drive through woodlands and pastures as mobs of kangaroos and emus feed. After dinner, a night-spotting trip lets you see nocturnal wombats, gliders and possums. We follow nature’s rhythm, seeking out the animals when they are most active. This is a noon-to-evening tour that includes a light lunch and filling country-style dinner in one of Australia’s oldest country inns. The best day of our week-long vacation in Sydney was the day of the wildlife tour. I would have been satisfied with just seeing kangaroos in the wild, and we did see these in abundance, but were thrilled to also see wallabies, wombats, a platypus, an echidna, an eagle, and cockatoos! Way better than a zoo! Our guide was great, and very knowledgeable, and we enjoyed the provided lunch and pub dinner too.

Night viewing was best

This tour started from Sydney downtown and went a Forest Reserve in Southern Highlands. Tour guide was very enthusiastic, although we didn’t see koalas, emus or many kangaroos. We did see a wombat and a Tawny Frogmouth which was exciting. I preferred some of the scenery in the National Parks to the forest reserve as there was dirt bikes, a shooting range and non-native pine forests in the Forest Reserve.

In contact with animals

Nice trip especially in the evening in the woods. Good organization of meals. The only drawback the guide who spoke all the time in English without trying to make himself understood even by those who do not know the language well, did not consider us in the least during the whole trip and went into the woods off the planned paths, not bothering to verify everyone to follow him
