Whale watching was an enjoyable and beautiful experience for both adults and children. On our trip the tour group did an amazing job by being friendly, informative and fun. We saw lots of whales from a distance and loved skirting around a massive boat making its’ way up the St Laurence. Best part was touring the mouth of the Sagenay River where we saw sea lions basking in the sun and soaring cliffs.

We saw several whales and it made for a most memorable experience. Be prepared to spend about an hour of prep time getting suited up and processed by the tour operator before you actually get on the boat and start heading out on the water. Some of the other tour companies operate smaller boats which might make for a more intimate experience. Wear warm clothing and do you risk bringing cameras or smart phones, unless very well protected, as the salt water spray will destroy them.

Fantastic, enjoyed it so much, and it was thrilling seeing the whales! It would have been good to know there's a ferry across to Tadoussac, which ended up making us a bit late for check in, and when we went to the place indicated on the ticket, we were too late to check in there, so had to scramble to find parking, and the correct place to check in, which wasn't really well marked. The info ahead also didn't mention that we would get those great rain jackets and pants that we needed to get into, so allowing more time at check in is a must. I also wouldn't have worn my heavier jacket if I'd known we were going to "suit up", it ended up being too hot and bulky. Lastly, it's best to not bring purses or backpacks or anything with you (other than your camera/phone), leave them in the car since they'll get soaked on the floor. All that said, we had an incredible guide and the driver really crashed through the waves, which was FUN! And seeing the whales was truly awe-inspiring.
