Full description

Discover the ancient city of Petra on a guided overnight tour from Tel Aviv. See the many famous sites of the city, including the treasury, amphitheater, and the Royal Tombs with an overnight stay in a Bedouin camp lodge.

Start with pickup from a central meeting point in Tel Aviv, and head toward the Jordanian border. Cross at King Hussein / Allenby border, and enter Jordan, driving through the Judean desert for about an hour.

Continue towards Madaba, an ancient Jordanian city, and go up to the viewpoint of Mount Nebo. Stop for lunch and then visit Kerak, known for its Crusader-era castle.

From here, travel to the Bedouin camp near Petra where you will enjoy traditional Bedouin hospitality, including an Arab-style dinner and a comfortable bed for the night. Before going to sleep, sit beneath the clear desert skies and stargaze, as you drink a cup of delicious Bedouin tea.

On the second day, head to the ancient city of Petra, Jordan’s most treasured attraction. Admire the various structure carved into the red rocks of the soaring cliffs.

Enter through the Siq, a narrow gorge and discover the treasury and amphitheater with your guide who will explain the sites and history as you marvel at the beauty of each structure. Then take some free time to explore the site. Climb to the Royal Tombs, walk down the Roman Cardo, and hike up to the Monastery.

Meet up for lunch in Wadi Musa before returning back to Tel Aviv via the Allenby border crossing.

WICHTIG: 1. Covid-Formulare für Israel+Jord. vorab ausfüllen. 2.

The tour is well planned: the main focus is of course Petra, but you get to do quite a bit of things the first day, you get to see a little bit more of Jordan and learn quite a bit about its society and present day situation. Then at night you have the chance (extra) to visit Petra at night. on my group only three of us wanted to go, and I have to say I think those who didn't miss out on something. The show (some regional musicians playing a few thousand years old instruments) might be culturally hard to appreciate, but even the walk almost in full darkness to the Treasure is worth the ticket. And then the next day is all about Petra, with enough time to do whatever you want... and after that it wouldn't be possible to do anything else, you're rightfully exhausted. Even the advice on how to go around Petra to be able to see as much as possible was spot on. The food was also very nice.

It was amazing visiting Jordan for two days. The sites were breathtaking. Our Jordan guide Mehdi gave us a lot of information and explained everything really well. However, please keep in mind that it can take a while to enter both borders. From Israel to Jordan was okay, the other way around almost took two hours because of interrogations, passport checks and what not. I can however highly recommend taking this trip. You will not regret it!
