Hoi An: My Son Sanctuary and Thu Bon River Cruise

1. Hoi An: My Son Sanctuary and Thu Bon River Cruise

One of the most stunning sights to see in Hoi An area is My Son, Viet Nam’s most important site of the ancient kingdom of Champa. Located in the heart of a beautiful valley and surrounded by high mountain ranges, My Son was named a Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 1999. This is graphically illustrated by the remains of a series of impressive tower-temples located in a dramatic site that was the religious and political capital of the Champa Kingdom for most of its existence

The tour was very well organized and we got what we expected. We were picked up at the homestay on time and arrived at the ticket office on time. We had to buy our tickets there ourselves. Our guide was very funny, had a nice chat with us on the car ride and informed us a bit about the temples (however, guides from other groups gave more detailed information). We had a short time to take photos and got to watch a show at the end. Lunch was very simple with a vegetarian option. The boat ride was nice, but you could have saved yourself this experience as it was only about 20 minutes from Hoi An. All in all, the tour was worth it, because the temple complex is really worth seeing.

Nice tour, lasts until 1:30 p.m., really recommendable. Everything was very well organized, we had a nice guide who spoke English and explained a lot. It goes first to My Son, after about 2 hours then by car for lunch, which was also good. Then briefly by car to the boat and then by boat (a larger boat for several groups) with a chugging motor in the direction of Hoi An. From there again by car to the hotel or to the center. Everything went well, it was a nice half day!

Fantastic tour! Our guide, Huy, was an excellent storyteller and made the effort to entertain everyone. His explanation of the history behind My Son and the Champa people was informative and well-researched. I'd highly recommend this tour, thanks Huy!

We had a great guide who was very knowledgeable on the history of the region. Visited many of the zones and leaned about the history of the Champa empire and the ongoing restoration efforts at this site.

Really great day, our guide Barry was amazing, really nice and knew loads about the sanctuary. The food you get is also beautiful. Overall great half day trip and excellent value for money!
