The collection is housed in the former Winter Palace of Queen Mother Emma of the Netherlands and is the only public building in The Hague where the original royal ambience has been maintained. The Louwman Museum is home to the world’s oldest private collection of motor cars, compiled by two generations of the Louwman family. The museum dates back to 1934 and now comprises over two hundred and fifty antique and classic motor cars. Experts regard the collection as one of the most beautiful in the world. The museum exudes passion. Each car has its own story to tell, its own contribution to history. The motor car is a mirror of culture. The collection is housed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague, the city where P.W. Louwman established his Dodge and Chrysler import company. The building, designed by American architect Michael Graves, blends in sympathetically with its historic surroundings. The landscape gardens, designed by Lodewijk Baljon, complement the architecture of the building.

During Prinsjesdag on Tuesday 19 September 2023 it is possible to experience the driving tour of the Glass Carriage up close from a separate grandstand on the Lange Voorhout. You can find the ticket sales for these stands on this page. With your ticket you get access to the grandstand including a bottle of water. Prinsjesdag is the traditional start of the parliamentary year for the Senate and House of Representatives in The Hague. On the third Tuesday in September, King Willem-Alexander delivers the Speech from the Throne in which the government announces its most important plans for the coming year. Prior to the reading of the Speech from the Throne, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will travel in the Glass Coach, followed by other important members, from Noordeinde Palace via the Lange Voorhout to the place where this year's Speech from the Throne will take place.

Rijksmuseum de Gevangenpoort is an icon in The Hague, beautifully situated on the Hofvijver. In the 13th century, this building formed the imposing gateway to the Binnenhof. Several centuries later it became a prison and courthouse of the mighty Hof van Holland. Here, suspected criminals waited for their trial and defaulters were imprisoned. Today, Museum de Gevangenpoort tells the exciting story of crime and punishment in times gone by. Here you can see and experience how people were imprisoned, tried and punished in the past. In which cells were they held? Was there a difference between poor and rich prisoners? Where did they hear their verdict? And what punishments were given? You will hear all about it during a tour with our guide. Several important moments in Dutch history took place here, such as the murder of the De Witt brothers. You can also view the national collection of torture and punishment instruments in the museum.

Excelente experiencia en un tour privado en donde los visitantes se educan mucho mejor que en otros tours con muchas personas. El guía se dedica a los pocos turistas lo que hace de la experiencia una enriquecedora y con mayor conocimiento. Se incluye un paseo en ferry por el famoso puerto de Rotterdam que ejemplifica lo inmenso del mismo. Nuestro guia Jan nos educó sobre todos los asuntos importantes de los lugares visitados y demostró ser un conocedor de alta calidad.

The museum needs about a couple of hours to view. It doesn’t have a large collection but has some very famous pieces of art. Good to have the audio guide downloaded. Go earlier as it gets pretty crowded.
