1. Queenstown: 15,000-Foot Tandem Skydive near The Remarkables

It takes a certain kind of person to jump from an aircraft at 15,000ft into thin air. It takes courage. Expect sensory overload as your mind, body and soul fight against every natural self-preserving urge. The challenge is immense. Harnessed by space-age materials to your experienced Jumpmaster, step out of that aircraft door and for 60-seconds plummet toward the ground at 200 kph - terminal velocity. Admire some of the most dramatic scenery in New Zealand from 15,000ft above the Remarkables Mountain Range. After a 15-minute scenic flight to altitude, you will nudge towards the edge of the plane before being thrown out. Keep your head up, smile at your skydive photographer and take in the stunning surroundings. After an exhilarating freefall, you will experience a 5-minute parachute ride, floating safely back down to the skydive drop zone. At the drop zone base, make use of the internet kiosks and Discovery Zone where you can watch the parachutes being packed. There are drinks and snacks available for purchase, bathrooms, a souvenir clothing and gifts store, as well as free Wi-Fi. There are also lockers onsite to store your valuables while skydiving.

What people are saying about The Remarkables

Most incredible experience, from getting picked up from the hotel the friendly staff was very informative. I was slightly nervous as i had never been in a helicopter before but the staff and pilot made me feel at ease. The flight it self was very smooth and enjoyable, the pilot (Matt) was very knowledgeable about the area and pointed out cool landmarks. Overall very impressed would do it again next time we are back in queenstown.

We had the best guide!! He had so much enthusiasm and absolutely loves what he does. A fun filled half day. We saw the back drops of scenes used in filming the LOTR films, drove on an old gold mining road, drove on an old one lane gold mining equipment road through the mountains, panned for gold, and had morning tea riverside. We learned so much! Best half day tour of our month long trip.

Right for the word go, the staff were superb. Incredible knowledge of the local area, places to go and things to do. During the experience, I proposed to my partner and the pilot got the whole thing on camera. Couldn't have done a better job.

The staff were all friendly and very helpful organising the trip. The flight and landing was amazing, highly recommend to everyone visiting queens town

Great but it would be nice if they let one have their own GoPro attached to their body!
