The guided trip was excellent! Our guide was very knowledgeable and could answer any question you asked him. Be prepared to walk up and down a lot of steps-not for the faint-of-heart. The train trip was very long but I was able to nap, and there's food and drink available. The toilets were not the best so try to relieve yourself before the train or right as you get on. I would recommend to anyone wanting to see the geological phenomena with a strong spiritual connection and beautiful architecture. It was my last day in Athens and I'm very glad that I went. The history is fascinating, a must-see if you do one thing outside of Athens.
The train ride is a long one but the trip is sooooo worth it! There just isn’t anyway to truly describe the monasteries located anywhere from 1000-1800 feet off the ground on stone columns. Be prepared for a lot of hills and stairs to climb but they are amazing. Our guide, Maria, was fantastic! Her personal stories and knowledge of the area was so enjoyable. Our driver navigated roads I wouldn’t want to with ease and safety. We highly recommend!
The Meteora was a beautiful site to see. The train ride there and back was long so bring a book or other entertainment with you. Once I figured out how to get to the train station everything else was easy. Nick was a wonderful tour guide, I learned so much and it is impossible to take a bad picture there. This does require physical activity walking up an incline or lots of stairs
What a discovery and what an experience! A fabulous trip! The guide was super nice and explained everything in great detail! You can go there with your eyes closed!
Very long day tour but extremely interesting. The mountains and the location of the monasteries are impressive
