I live in California and my friend in Austria. In August, we booked a German Tour in Rome for Tivoli, so my friend could follow the tour in her native language. A small bus collected us from our hotel and brought us to the office where we were sorted into groups according to language and destination. We were ushered to a large bus with A/C; it was 114 F on that day, so the A/C was much appreciated. The 1 hour drive to Tivoli was conducted in English, but a German speaking tour guide was also aboard. Once we arrived at our destination, it turned out that my friend and I were the only two customers for the German Tour, so it was like a private tour. The German speaking tour guide in Rome was from Mexico City. He did an excellent job, had all his facts at his fingertips and was very adept in presenting us with a plethora of knowledge in a most interesting way. Green Line was a very good experience, and I highly recommend it. (Gray Line Vatican Tour was disorganized, would not recommend.)
A wonderful and interesting guide (Maria). The promotional material was accurate. We appreciated the hotel pickup even though we booked late the night before the day we took the tour. Some participants thought that a drop off to hotel was included but this was more likely misleading information given by their hotel than the tour company's promotional material which stated designated drop off locations . Very glad we took the tour.
The visit at Villa D"este was lovely. The gardens and fountains are beautiful. The ruins of Adrian's palace were very interesting and the guide provided background information that made it come to life.
Everything was well organized but we did not have enough time to do some shopping near villa ernst and near villa adriana. otherwise ok
