Full description
Explore the quiet district of Asakusa on a private walking tour where you will discover some of Tokyo’s most important and beloved shrines from the flourishing Edo era, including the impressive Sensoji Temple. Meet your guide at Asakusa station and follow your guide on a walking route that includes the following shrines and temples: Matsuchiyama Shoden, Imado Shrine, Hashibafudo-son, Yoshiwara ShrineOtori Shrine, Asakusa Shrine, and Sensoji Temple. Learn about old myths preaching that the seven disasters would be eliminated and worshipers would receive seven happiness by visiting shrines home to the seven luck-bringing gods enshrined there. Collect red stamps at the temples, which was traditionally considered as a sign of worship and has recently become a trendy hobby amongst the younger Japanese generation. As a highlight, visit the picturesque Sensoji Temple, the oldest temple in Tokyo with a beautiful vermillion landscape and a large red lantern that is a symbol of Asakusa. Walk on the Nakamise Shopping Street, which is the busiest area in Asakusa. Buy souvenirs and eat famous local dishes and don't forget to take a photo near the Kaminarimon gate as well.
